How to tell if a fabric is knitted or woven
Here are some ways to identify whether a fabric is knitted or woven:

Take a look at the thread. If you look closely at the fabric, you should see the individual threads that make it up. If the thread appears to have loops, it is knitted; if the thread has a vertical criss-cross pattern, it is woven.
Check the stretch. Knitted fabrics have more stretch than woven fabrics. Try stretching the fabric lengthwise and crosswise; if it stretches, it might be a braid, if it resists, it might be a braid.
Do a wrinkle test. Squeeze a little of the fabric in your palm. Knitted fabrics spring back quickly with little or no wrinkling; woven fabrics retain wrinkles and generally stay lightly wrinkled.
